We've made it. 2017 was a year to remember for a variety of reasons in the entertainment business and Hollywood in general. But, as always, the show must go on. The nominations for the 90th Academy Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 23rd, this is noteworthy simply becuase it's after both the SAG and PGA will have been given out. Both, are generally good indicators as to where the Academy may be leaning.

There are a few things to look for when thinking about Oscar voting. Very rarely does a film that wins Best Picture not get a nomination for Directing (forget Argo) or Editing. Also, you can throw the Golden Globe nonsense out the window, the two voting groups could not be more different.

Chances are one of your favorite films will get snubbed and another that you dislike given way too many nominations. But, if you're looking for a general rundown with the major categories and how this thing may shape out, I'm here to give you my best idea.
